Okay, CRASH and the parents of Jen & Brett who are my Aunt Jann & Uncle Kenny got
tickets to go to NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) and we went on Friday
& Saturday (Jan 17th & 18th). The first day we went to the Fender room because we
knew that Fender bought Jackson and thought that Phil might be doing something to
promote but he wasn't advertized anywhere. So we asked some people by the Jacksons
if they had heard anything about Phil coming in and they said yeah, tomorrow and we were
so psyched!
So the next day we went straight up to Jackson and asked the guy when Phil was coming and he said about 2 or 3 pm and so Derek and Brett stayed up there the whole time saving our spots so we'd have good seats for the "show", even though no one else really knew he was going to be there. So then about 2 we go up there and I had my spot, right in front of where Phil would be playing.
Then he came. Oh my gosh I was so happy that I was shocked and speechless, I couldn't believe I was actually seeing Phil Collen in person. Everyone else had met him besides me and it was finally my turn! As he came in he shook hands with the Jackson people and was setting up some of he equipment. I didn't want to maul him right as he was getting in there and my Aunt was just like go on ask for a picture and so I tapped Phil on the shoulder and asked if I could get a picture with him (I was so nervous) and of course he said sure! It was so cool! Then the boys got a picture with him too. So then he set up a bit more and then was going to leave for about 10 or 15 mintures and told us he'd be right back.
So when he came back all of CRASH and the parents had front row, we were all the ones in front and actually, there wasn't that many people there, which was good because then it would've been really crowded. He played lots of bits of songs that we requested and just lots of cool soloing stuff. He remembered Jen & her mom from the San Francisco show (because they went backstage) and we told them that we really liked the Universal show. Then they were talking about the new album and after he was finished talking I said that the album ROCKED and he said Aw thank you, cheers! LOL, I love British people! And he answered some questions about his guitars and stuff like that because he was promoting Jackson of course. It was so cute too because Rory was there too and kept saying, Dad, Dad, Dad...etc and it was just weird to hear someone call Phil "Dad", lol!
So then after he was done playing he said he'd just be over in the middle of the room in a minute to sign autographs and we were first in line and we all got autographs and he was just so wonderful. They had Historia playing on the DVD above where he was signing autographs and it was just really cool. Phil was so awesome and nice and I'm sooo happy that I finally got to meet him. It was FANTASTIC and totally ROCKIN'!! Thanks Phil!!!
