| For starters! I just wanna say that Def Leppard is the shiznit! I would have never dreamed that their concert would have been as great as it was, but I'm so glad that I was proven wrong on June 10th, 2003 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky!! Ever since April 26th (the day tickets went on sale) my best friend Heather and I had been totally excited about going to see them live in concert. Def Leppard is Heather's favorite band and I really enjoyed listening to their music as well, so we both got tickets to go and we had been anxiously awaiting the BIG DAY! Several weeks later...here comes the BIG DAY! Over the past few weeks, we had made t-shirts especially for the show and we coordinated with each other. Whenever we arrived in Lexington around 6:15 or so, we walked into Rupp Arena to see people all around. Some were entering drawings to win tickets...others were buying DL t-shirts and key chains and what not. After we visited the booths, went through security, and had our tickets scanned, we decided we'd go on and find our seats before we got caught up in a huge mob of fans. After waiting around in our seats for about an hour, the lights go down and all in the arena become excited! Ricky Warwick was the opening act and he did a really great job! Vivian came out to sing a song with him near the end of his performance and it totally rocked. I think that song gave a little insight to viewers of what was going to be instore for everyone...but there was so much to look forward to! After Ricky's set was over, the lights came back up and we had to wait on the LEPS for just a little while longer. I can remember Heather being so anxious with anticipation that she was almost beside herself. There we were; two 16 year olds in the midst of fans that had been fans for decades and we had drawn them all into ourselves in a little over a year and a half. Then, after waiting so patiently, "Disintigrate" music started playing and then, we knew it was our boys! Everyone jumped up and started cheering and screaming, and Heather and I were screaming, too. They all looked so great from where we were sitting and we could see them great, too! They played various songs from a lot of their different albums. It was so loud in there that you couldn't sing, you had to scream lyrics to the songs. There were several times that the guys (especially Joe) would walk back and forth from one side to another and on several occassions, Heather would wave and then Joe would right back. It was totally awesome when he did! Whenever the show was over, we both totally didn't wanna leave. We didn't want them to leave! Def Leppard was by far the best concert I had ever seen so far in my lifetime. And, from seeing them after years and years of hard work, bands of the future and now are going to have a lot to live up to. I am truly a very dedicated Def Leppard fan now! Way to go, guys!! |
