| June 4th, 2003-Wichita, KS-Kansas Coliseum Setlist: *not in the right order, might've left some of em out* : Disintergrate, Another Hit and Run, High N'Dry (Saturday Night), Let It Go, Bringin On The Heartbreak, Switch 625, Photograph, Foolin, Rock of Ages, Women, Rocket, Animal, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Armageddon It, Hysteria, Make Love Like A Man, Two Steps Behind, Promises, Now, Long Long Way To Go, Four Letter Word, *Encore* Love Bites, Lets Get Rocked, The day that I had been waiting for over a year since I last saw them, finally arrived. I was nearly a nervous wreck having to wait through the three hour drive to Wichita, and couldn't wait to see the Leps for the second time. Thankfully, I didn't have to sit through a bunch of bland radio pop music this time. Unfortunately, when we got to the coliseum we were all informed that no cameras were allowed in the show, but that didn't spoil my time at all. We had the most awesome seats-seventh row on Phil's side *wriggles brows*. They played some classics before the show to get the crowd goin'-like AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, and Queen *just to name a few*. I tried spotting any of the Leps by the side of the stage before the concert, or any familiar faces. Luckly, I did spot Malvin wandering around for a few minutes before showtime. The show kicked off about 7:30pm. When Malvin introduced Ricky Warwick, everybody went wild. The man has a lovely voice ( I might like to add-very good looking as well) and some kick ass songs-I would totally recommend you pick up his CD when it's released. Ricky played for about 40 minutes, and the next twenty minutes were spent waiting for the equipment to get set up and watching a bunch of drunk people attempt to walk around (very amusing). Around 8:30pm, the lights went off and Disintergrate wailed across the whole coliseum. Not a single person was sitting in their seat at this point, and the music was almost hard to hear over everybody cheering for Def Leppard. Once, the lights came on and the guys appeared out of the smoke-the whole place was roaring with life. There was non-stop rocking for the next two + hours. The boys kicked the setlist off with some of their early material from the High N'Dry album, and then went into Pyromania and so on. All the guys looked very good-they all look like they've lost some weight. Joe was wearing a black tee-shirt *couldn't tell what was on it* and baggy jeans. He moved across the whole stage through the show. Commanding the audience with the raise of his hand, or the microphone when he held it out for us to sing. Joe flirted with the audience the whole night with his winks, seductive smile, and blowing kisses. Phil-don't get me started on Phil *lol*. I'd just like to thank the Lord for giving me seats near the man (I'm sorry, I know this is a Sav site but ladies I know you'll understand me on this when I say-I couldn't help but not ignore the site in front of me!). Phil was *WAS coughs* a black tank top and some faded jeans. About four songs into the set he *sighs* took off his shirt. At this point a large pool of drool developed under my seat. He kept showing that cute smile we all know, and pulled some of his famous guitar moves. Vivian wore a tight short-sleeved t-shirt with jeans. Really didn't see him much-kept to his side of the stage mostly. Really didn't see Rick since the drumkit kept getting in the way, but he had on a short sleeved gray tee-shirt and baggy cargo shorts. Finally-what you've all been waiting for..Sav. The man looked very, very, very nice. He wore a sleeveless-green shirt with some studded word on it *couldn't read it*, and multi-colored pants. His hairs gotten a little longer, and it looks like he's lost some weight from the last time I saw him (Red, White, and Boom). Sav worked the stage-running to each end and looking out at the crowd by raising his hair out of his face. Many funny things happened during the show. Towards the end, some lady threw her thong up on the stage. You couldn't miss it since Joe was over on Phil's side of the stage, and it landed on Joe's mic stand. All of the band laughed about that one. During "Make Love Like A Man," when Phil was doing his rap into Joe's microphone-Joe started leaning into Phil with a big smile and sticking his tongue out towards Phil's face. It nearly made Phil mess up as the two laughed at the end of the rap. This lady was selling roses, so in the middle of the show Vivian gave one to Joe and persed his lips at Joe. Joe just looked at him while the audience laughed, taking the rose and saying "Thank you sweetheart, I'll remember that." Of course, Joe introduced Rick to the crowd and then that led into Rick doing the "Rock Of Ages" intro. The show was just totally amazing in my eyes. Even though it wasn't sold out-it had this vibe that it was. Not a single person was sitting, let alone being quiet. Everyone was moving around, and singing along to all of the songs. At the end of the show-Joe and Sav thanked the crowd, and I hurridly went off to grab my camera from the car (dragging my parents long with me) to find the tour buses in hopes of meeting the band. It was a once in a lifetime thing for me and I wasn't going to pass it up. Once we got back to the area, to my dismay the area was fenced in but I didn't let that stop me. The security guard did a piss poor job of lying to us-saying that the band had already left when there was a traffic jam in the parking lot. We ended up waiting about an hour, and Rick came out. About fifteen people were waiting by the bus, trying to pass their ticket stubs or album covers through the fence. Rick was very nice to everybody-being patient (surprisingly with the people screaming at him), talking to everybody, and being laid back. At this time, I was too star struck too think-let alone talk. So I missed my chance at getting an autograph with Rick, but fortunately Sav, Viv, and Phil were the next ones to come out. I first went up to Viv by squeezing through the other people (a younger crowd this time). Viv was very quiet, but polite to everybody. All I could get out was thank you when he gave me my ticket back, and he replied with a very quiet "your welcome." My mom alerted me that Sav just came over to the fences and I nearly keeled over *lol*. Sav was also polite with the crowd, but he was really quiet as well. All I could do was give him my ticket and get out a simple "thank you", and look at those incrediable big blue eyes. The man looked even more nice two feet away *grins*. After that I nearly had a heart attack, but I couldn't have it just yet it since I had to catch up Phil. Everything you've heard about Phil is completely true. The man is a total sweetheart-very laid back, outgoing, nice, humble, and really cares about what you're saying to him. Phil talked with many people from the crowd. This really relaxed me (him being so outgoing), so I loosened up and got my autograph from him. My mom and I (thankfully-as weird as it was posing w/ him through a fence)-got a picture with him. After the picture he said he felt like he was in prison with that fence there, and we both thanked him. With which he said-thank you, it was you guys who were great tonight. I was nearly bowled over *lol*-this totally made my year, but Joe still had to come out. All of us waited there for another 15 minutes ( a little after midnight now ), and we all started chanting for Joe. Unfortunately, it didn't look like he was coming out and my parents were getting restless so I had to leave. So, I have no clue if he came out or not. Overall, this was such an awesome experience-truly a once in a lifetime thing and Def Leppard made it very worthwhile. You know it's a good concert when you can barely hear afterwards, and you can't really even speak *lol*. It's really cool to have a band you can admire and actually have them be as down to earth as these guys are. I'm still wired from the concert, and I already can't wait to see them again. This is something that'll I'll never forget-keep up the good work guys... -Jennifer |
